NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
First topic message reminder :
I think the next event we should organize would be a camp or a retreat for the club members and anyone else who might be interested to join. We could maybe like have a holiday together and organize activities like games and other stuff. Maybe we could do it over the coming semester holidays since everyone should be free for a while after the exams.
I think it will be a good chance for us to get to know each other and chat about our favorite anime, manga and also drama's!

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
Depending on when the trip will be and where, I might not be able to join in cos I'll be working during summer.
Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
I was thinking that we should have it like a few days after the final exams then we should be in the party mode
Anyways i am doing internship during the holidays as well!

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
Lol, i am not the shopping type though, and my food search escapades always leads to disappointment, well frankly i think most of the best food are already in KL anyways, you just need to know where to get them.
Well, the other states just have over rated food
I wonder if the exco are giving this any thought?

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
Hmmm..I feel it is worth going a retreat. Since, members and exco-s should interact via this event. Just my 2-cents.
Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
Malacca's my hometown! XD Hehe... I think the guys will get bored at Jonker's Street since a lot of the good stuff are cute knick-knacks and pretty accessories, unless they like to see girls going crazy over the bargains galore =P
Food-wise, there's good food but must know where and be willing to find. And yeah, quite a few of the good ones have moved to KL

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
I know of a good nyonya restaurant. I think it was featured many times in food reviews and even food shows. I went there in my last trip and it was great!
Well, Jonker's street was fun for me because I got to eat fruit candy (or sugar-coated fruit lol) and had lots of pineapple tarts XD
There's a lot more shops there now! I was also impressed with the street behind Jonker's street because of its many many art galleries haha.
I liked the satay celup there too. Hmm... Lolz... now I just want to go back there to makan XD
There's still taman buaya and malacca zoo? XD
You know, I was actually disappointed that there was a MidValley in Dataran Pahlawan. World-renowned historical town with a large shopping complex so you feel as though you're still in KL >.>;;;;;;;; Didn't know what to think lol!
mchenix, then, for a trip/retreat, what do you like to do?

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
I think i stated my 2 cents above already, but then seems like there might be some financial trouble with some people which i have not consider. So I guess I am fine with any plausible/sound plan that you people come out with. And if we go to Malacca make sure we have a "tour guide" or something, i mean one of our member's who know's the area well. Otherwise going there being blur and everything would make it difficult especially when we are going in a big group.

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
I don't think I will be able to join the Camp/Retreat. Will be starting work immediately after the finals... And I won't be around Sunway.
Anyway, to those who are going to the trip, have fun.

Haha.... I've been in Sunway for about 3 years now and I have yet to
set foot in Sunway Lagoon... The thing is I know I'll be here so I keep
putting the idea off. But like I said, I might not be able to join in
cos of work.

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
I can't do anything...If every member can come for the meeting, the decision will be different. Anything please don't blame us for clashing and stuff..I'm really tired of taking care the minorities. If you want a better decision..let's say anime screening, please do come for the meeting and vote. We, exco members, has only a small vote. But you guys can suggest, decide and even criticize during the meeting.
Even the forum, votes are like less than 40. Lol

And besides due 2 the timetables clashes, not every1 can make it for every activity (that's understandable), but do try 2 come 4 as many activities as possible

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
[From this point onwards, the author is expressing her thoughts and doesn't mean to offend anyone. Someone has to say it eventually... *bows*]
Perhaps it is a good idea for everyone to compromise and have everything after class hours? Honestly, there isn't any other way to make it WORK... who agrees with me? >.< If you have lots of time before the meeting, maybe you can do some light revision, grab some of the other members who are free at that time as well and knock yourselves out [XD] until it is time? That would also serves as a 'bonding' session and get to know the rest of the people other than "I know him!" but not beyond his name... Having the usual "Aiya, lazy want to wait for the meeting time la... I want to go home and [fill in beloved activity here]" isn't a very good reason in my opinion... unless it is really inevitable [like other classes, family problems etc]
[Before you guys start typing on the pretty little reply box down there, preparing to shoot me down... lemme add one more thing.] Unless you are planning to tell your boss that "Mr/Miss/whatever-their-title-is Hiluhuluwawa, everyday after working hours go jam la... so I go home at 1pm okay?" or "Sir, my friend tell me that this so-and-so highway got biiiiiiiiig jam la. So I am not coming."
Unless someone can step up and tell us HOW else can we get EVERY of MAOU's members to show up and say "I am here for the meeting and let's get the party started?", I seriously think that we need to start compromising before the entire club gets disbanded.
[Here onwards, I shall be using myself as an example. XP]
What is the point of me calling myself a member when I don't want to contribute anything to the club? Each and everytime, I will give out the same reasons. I have this... I have that... I am sorry... I can't make it... I feel bad... etc O__O
__________The end of Super Rant________________
But seriously... think about it guys... ^^|| I think I shot myself in the head by my own post up there. XD I won't deny that.

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
yesh! i totally agree. petrol, transportation, and curfews aren't an excuse either. for transportation, try asking around for carpooling. after all, ther are 100++ members in maou. i'm sure ther're one or two staying nearby. and petrol + jams: (petrol jam. yuck... jk jk xD) ther are detours and such, or just leave the meeting slightly earlier or leave the uni a little later. you can even do your stuff while waiting if u're worried about jams.
curfews... i think my curfew is the tightest uni students have these days. i have to be home before SEVEN, and for the event, i reached home almost NINE, and got a lecture from my mum >_< i have to report to my mum where ever i go too. so, explain to your parents that you have club meetings, and ensure them that you'll call if it's extended, and also tell them that it won't affect your studies (it shouldn't, but oh well, it calms them hearing that) (btw, this works with my mum xD)
so, no excuses left for not being able to attend meetings after class hours. if being home late is a worry, then we can have the meeting on saturday (but most people protest, so...)
classes and labs, work etc are reasons, not excuses, so they are acceptable (so don't mistake what i mean here)

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
In my opinion, it depend what kind of activities your guys having in the meeting.. if the meeting too bored or "whatever".. do you think ppl will come for next meeting?? another thing, is it necessary too have many meeting?? other club doesn't held that much...no offense.. cause some meeting is held aren't discussing the problem or activities at all. why not the exco members make the decision for the ppl, as the member participation is not that great..
then make a finalise meeting where every members know what happening and their duty... for example.. everytime your guys held meeting.. problem not really solve.. some ppl like NATO.. " no action, talk only", so many opinion and ideas.look back at the masturi cafe.. in the end.. what happened????? the final decide is made from who?? exco members right...
you see... what am i trying to say is that.. we don't really need to held uncessary meeting, as everytime ppl come meeting.. they kind off influenced from past meeting... Example " meeting is bored,.. held several times of meeting, problem not yet solve, time management: meeting end early, late commer go in and found out no meeting is held or just finish and so on... again, do you think they still will come for next meeting ar??
one more thing, do thing rush doesn't benefit for the club.. this is what i can say.. some more.. sometimes, when you ask ppl for suggestion for ideas, pls listen.. if you don't like it ..is ok... but don't just ignore the person who are you asking for suggestion...
all of these is my opinion, if i offenced/hurt some of your feeling in here.. i apologise...

Re: NEXT Event! (Camp/Retreat)
Yea...I found out that some meetings are super unnecessary for members to come, but I thought by holding more meetings/gathering will close the bond between exco and members. but...it seems, it turned the reverse effect. Well..we know our mistake. next time only AGM and GM will be informed to you guys.
There will be major changes in policies and strategies for the club. So don't worry guys, next sem will be a bomb and I'll try my best to make the club as interesting as possible.
