The future of this club
lol, okay, it's not as serious as the title implies. At the last committee meeting we discussed about activites and possibly opening up to other areas of interest that appeal to the east-asian region, in order to gain a more active following.
What was suggested (according to what i remember) is as follows:
- have an activity once every 3 weeks that either connects to anime/manga or just an outing to have fun
- this time have 2 ice-breaking sessions before having an AGM, let the members get acquainted with one another first
- cosplay workshop, perhaps
- artbook that includes sketches, little comics, etc
- branch out into other interests such as Games, K-drama/J-drama, K-pop/J-pop, east-asian culture, etc
and I forgot what else.
What do you guys feel about this? Feel free to expand on ideas above or add your own

Re: The future of this club
I like the idea for the 2 ice breaking session, but I'm worry the members will not attend the second one because of the choosing and voting for new committee members session
About the artbook...how is it like?

Re: The future of this club
lol, well if you remembered this sem's agm, quite a number turned up. So let's just hope after the 2nd ice-breaking session, they show up.
As for the artbook, they basically just want the artists (including you) to draw stuff (sketches, etc) and slap it in, so that we can pass it around during CNS or set up our own booths at certain events

Re: The future of this club
Oooh, maybe all members can contributed a or some drawings to be put in the artbook That would be quite a huge number if they are willing to take part...assume all drawings are presentable(as in, not some silly doodles of stick figures lol) Maybe something similar to school/club magazine?

Re: The future of this club
Well, all this ideas are good and workable, thats why I need your feedbacks! I gotta assign some jobs to you all after exams, alright?
actually it is every 2-3 weeks for activities...I am planning to stop the japanese class though, or maybe pass to calyn.
we will have a drawing/doujin workshop, anime karaoke night...
We are shifting our objectives towards J-culture...so can attract more females.

Re: The future of this club
from what i remember from this sem, besides animazingrace(ice breaker),the only other official activities on the menu was karaoke party and the jap classes.
Everything else was basically unofficial.unofficial hanging out,unofficial eating out,unofficial movie outing,unofficial trips,forum posting,trading
most committee meetings didn't produce very good results
For sem 1 annually, they usually have a music festival or something akin that requires club participation.we totally forgot 2 discuss
Judging from our capabilities,As long as we have a trip/party/screening every 2 weeks,we should have more participation
a suggestion,something practical and cheap
roughly
week 1
active members regather for prep and tears
1. club t-shirt printing and prep for order(we might need to wear this for cns/music festival)
2.cns plan/prep
3.music festival plan
4.activities to musa submission
week 2
cns booth shifts concurrent with screenings of mass friendly anime,handing/sales of small artbooks if we can,{maybe a mini art exhibition}.At the entrance to screenings,we can have noticeboards with anime, production info and trivia}/t-shirt/dakimaru/figurine/card sales by little akiba people perhaps?
week 3
first icebreaker+screening of some new dvd+outing?
(suggestion ispired by gin.waterpipe/balloon fight:must wear swimsuit or white clothes, hehehe)
week 4
2nd icebreaker with general meeting to talk about future events(input from new members, what they want)/welcome party?(karaoke/wii/gaming?)
week 5
talk by a comic artist?or club experts(loli, action, anime, game discussion,a popular anime)
week 6
3rd icebreaker ,outing/screening/gathering for food/gaming
(dubbing session?)
week 7
screening/cosplay workshop/photoshop/sound editing/dressing/combat/drifting etc.
week 8
music festival booth shifts
week 9
outing to another colleges avtivity*
week 10
something a new member suggests
week 11
talk by a comic artist?or club experts(loli,action,anime,game discussion,a popular anime)+final screening
week 12
reflection and rough prep for sem 2
weekly
the usual lunch gatherings/weeboo counselling/mate hunting/card/gaming/mini screening
after exam
trip out of sunway
ex.m'sian philharmonic orchestra
bon odori
korean bbq
genting
port dickson
penang
melaka
pattaya
kabuki-cho
* can be adjusted accordingly
Forum + email

Re: The future of this club
Hope our next sem will be fruitful! =D
Again about the artbook...is it just entirely pictures or like what I just mentioned, like school/club magazine? We can actually use club members' input to put in the artbook/magazine, could be something literature or just some opinion about a topic(of course have to be somehow anime-related), as well as including some fun facts we can write in, and sell it? Not sure if it is realistic or not, though...We probably need to offer some reward if we want to get enough input from them....
"oh ya,how bout we pool together peoples birthdays/birth of accidental baby/marriage and have an official club celebration for it?"
The first thing runs into my mind is to also celebrate some anime characters' birthday xDD The typical otaku celebration...stuff. Maybe we can also have some...I don't know, very minor celebration or just notification of which anime character is having his/her birthday for everyday? Again, not sure if it is realistic or not...it is not something official and we need to do a LOT of research....never mind, forget it >.>
You mean like, set a date to celebrate everyone's birthday? =D

hmm maybe you need to shift your ideas a bit and re-think that.. unless of course the number of attendees for your class have been reduced to 1-2 people. i think the main point here is to think about what worked in the past and what needs fixing up.. you would normally maintain or upgrade what worked and revamp what didn't go so well..
the reason why i said this is because Japanese classes normally bring in a fee of RM10 per person per month, so that's like a solid income - at least RM50 per month - to the club (provided that the topics and teachers are interesting enough). on top of that, you attract them during enrollment week, so that's an extra RM5 from them for registering. besides, that's the only time i see fresh new faces..
you should also consider the chances of MAOU getting disbanded due to lack of proposed/on-going/confirmed activities..

I quite agree with what he said. Just because we're now an official club doesn't mean that we're safe from being disbanded... If they decide that our club isn't active, they'll just remove our official status and we'll have to start all over again from scratch. So anything you want to do, please consider the consequences.
Re: The future of this club
I feel the japanese class is sort of an elective.
Its up to kaichou whether he has the time for this or not
He did say he'll find replacements

Frankly speaking...... I dun think all student paying for class and the club is losing a lot money. =/
