Re: Suggestions for events
hmmm.. tat's wat i wondering. basically d base cost of takoyaki is rather "high". if we wan 2 make it, assumed we have d skill to flip d ball without burning it, but where we can get d utensils?
regarding d fireworks is a joke, but still we can get d cheap one, dun have 2 be 2 fancy, rite?

Re: Suggestions for events
haha... true, but wat i mean d cheap 1 is d sparkles, forgotten d name ad, not d big fireworks. it's simple n nice. most importantly it is not illegal.
Re: Suggestions for events
Speaking of which, i read an article on fireworks the other day. Apparently there are only two types that are legal. PopPop [the lousy popping thing] and the Happy Boom [like... wth is this? O.o]

Re: Suggestions for events
Yeah that's what i wanted to suggest that day. Some tradional Jap food would be nice for our fiesta. Suits us more as an otaku club. But yeah the basic problem is cost. I saw at Jusco the cheapest 1 octopus takoyaki is RM4.50 or RM3.80 for 3 balls, i dun remember which 1. And they r not the frozen or ready made ones. So if we 1 profit might need to sell at RM5, quite expensive i think but maybe a good try bcoz its something different, unlike other clubs that sell the same things of pizza(though its a good seller), doughnuts, muffins & all (though we probably would be selling those as well), after all we r the MAOU need to hv something extra.~Kaichou~ wrote:If we can propose the takoyaki shop, I think it is a not bad idea!

Re: Suggestions for events
to have jap stuff is equally difficult as our budget is exceeding RM 1K...unless one of u guys can make jap food like onigiri, sushi, handrolls...etc
Re: Suggestions for events
Erm then its quite a problem. The 1k is it from MUSA sponser or is it the prize money for best emerging club? What bout our own club money, like from the fees & etc?

Re: Suggestions for events
Can claim back money for organizing event from MUSA? Then u make sure how much we can claim 1st. If can claim 2k then the event should not be a problem, I think.

Re: Suggestions for events
copied from another thread:
Gempak Studio is manga production. so maybe we can do a field trip to anime studios, like Animasia
I would also like to hold an anime and manga week.
Cos,
we want to promote anime and manga. so, by any chances, we can make a
history timeline for anime and manga according to their era?Educational
right?
And during the holidays, we would find some shops, i.e.
figurines, anime and manga, to come over during that week to sell their
mechandise as a promotion for anime and manga. We might get discounts
from them too!!
Meanwhile, We can do anime marathon also as to
attract newbies to non-popular but nice anime like bamboo blade?school
days?hehehee...
Also, in the same time, we can do stage play?Cosplay stage play?
In any case, we can "copy" some events from CF. So, I would say: going to CF is merely a field trip!!! XD
so how do u think guys?is my idea good?

Re: Suggestions for events
also, Aki suggest to me that we should also do white valentine's day (14th March)concurrently with monash CnS week, what do u guys think?
Re: Suggestions for events
I was thinking that we could either:
1. Buy a big pack of chocolates/sweets n repack them nicely into small little packages
2. Make it into a club project whereby a few members could go over to someone's house to bake a small batch of cookies (with the cost of baking borne by the club), and package the cookies nicely
We could then sell the items at our booth during CnS week in conjunction with White Day, since both fall on the 2nd week of the sem.
Buyers would have the option of including a message that will be attached to the packaging.
It'll help to raise awareness of the White Day tradition, and contribute to the amount of activities our club holds in order to pass the probation.
Would this be a profitable and successful activity?

Re: Suggestions for events
I agree 100% with the idea of having White Day! It'll be a lot of fun and im sure by having this event we can show that we're an active club and hopefully as Aki said, we can pass the probation this time. ^_^
As for the ideas mentioned above, i think it's easier to do number 1. But if we can get a lot of helpers to help out with baking the cookies, then number 2 would be better and cheaper i think. =)

Re: Suggestions for events
White Day sounds like a great idea! Thinking of White Day, I totally remember the scene where Yuki gave Tohru a ribbon in return for her chocolates. Such a heart-warming scene from Fruits Basket...
We probably have to do some background research on White Day and print out the history of it and such and give Monashians a history lesson!
If we do it well enough, the booth will look attractive!
Too bad March 14th is on a Saturday, if not we could also give out gifts to new members who register on that day.

Re: Suggestions for events
I think we can google/wiki most of the info about white day. Then we can maybe have a poster/ad on the computers to let everyone know about the event.
And about the booth decoration for the white day thing, i think it'd be nice to have a white theme. <3 Get a white table cloth to go over the tables at the booth. Then have maybe white flowers around the board that we'll be using. Plastic flowers can be bought quite easily and not so expensive too. =) Ouh and white ribbons as well. Some silver would also look good with all the white.. =)
Aiya 14th March is on a saturday? Too bad. =( But i suppose we can still open the booth anyway and sell the cookies/chocolates earlier on friday maybe. Like tell the guys to buy it on that day, then give to their gf on saturday. xDD

Yo~
OMG!!! I've been away for so long......
Sigh....
White Day huh.... It's a great idea.
Wiki should have more info on White Day. Plus, I find it easier to search for info than google.

Re: Suggestions for events
Great suggestions! I think it'll be really nice + special to have a White Day themed booth ^^ We can make a few paper flowers as decoration too, in addition to plastic ones if it's not too much work.
Maybe we could give little white/silver ribbons as souvenir to those that register during CnS week?
